The new State Executive met on 12 July 1945 and appointed Brigadier Frances Robert Burton as the first General Secretary, a position now known as State Director.
Brigadier Burton remained in the position until the end of 1947 when he retired.
The man who replaced him would go on to have a historic impact on the NSW organisation, but more on him later.
