STRONGER SOCIAL HOUSING COMMUNITIES FOR NSW

The NSW Government is delivering on its election commitment to build stronger social housing communities following the announcement of the successful recipients under the fourth round of the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF).

Round 4 of the SHCIF provides $1.2 million in grants to 30 projects across NSW that improve community facilities, enhance open spaces and integrate social housing with the broader community.

Minister for Social Housing Pru Goward said the final round of funding adds to a number of already successful projects across NSW that are making a real difference in the lives of social housing residents.

“The SHCIF is a wonderful example of how Government can work with communities, local councils and the private sector to deliver projects which strengthen ties between people in and around social housing properties,” Ms Goward said.

“Projects funded under these grants make an enormous difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”

The $20 million fund has delivered more than 500 projects through four rounds, with all Round 4 projects due for completion by March 2019.

“This is just another example of how this Government delivers on its promises and I look forward to seeing the positive impact that projects funded under the SHCIF have on communities right across NSW,” Ms Goward said.
