The NSW Government has secured NRL Grand Finals until 2046 in a win for fans, tourism and jobs.

Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said NSW is the home of Rugby League and is proud the National Rugby League will continue to play its showpiece event in our world-class stadiums.

“NSW is the spiritual home of Rugby League. It always has been, and always will be. We have just witnessed another brilliant Grand Final in Sydney with a near-record crowd and this only highlights the enormous appetite and enthusiasm NSW fans have for the game of Rugby League,” Mr Lee said.

“The NSW Government is investing nearly $1.9 billion in our stadium network which will give the NRL the best stadiums in the country.”

The NRL Grand Final provides enormous benefit to tourism in NSW, which remains Australia’s number one destination for visitors, both domestic and international, and our premium sporting attractions are a major attraction.

“The NSW Government’s stadium strategy is stronger with our renewed partnership with the NRL, but also lays the platform for NSW attracting the world’s best events,” Mr Lee said.

“We will continue to bid for major sporting events such as Football World Cups, Rugby World Cups and Rugby League World Cups because of the enormous benefits they deliver to NSW.”
