The outstanding contribution to our nation by Members of the NSW Liberal Party, including former Prime Minister the Hon Malcolm Turnbull, have been recognised in the 2021 Australia Day Honours List.

Mr Turnbull has been awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for his eminent service to the people and Parliament of Australia, particularly as Prime Minister, through significant contributions to national security, free trade, the environment and clean energy, innovation, economic reform and marriage equality, and to business and philanthropy.

Malcolm was first elected to the Australian Parliament as the Member for the electorate of Wentworth in 2004, having already contributed considerably to national debate, including as the Chair of the Australian Republican Movement.

He went on to serve as a Cabinet Minister, Leader of the Parliamentary Liberal Partyand the 29th Prime Minister of Australia, leading the Liberal-Nationals Coalition to victory at the 2016 election.

The President of the NSW Liberal Party, the Hon Philip Ruddock AO, congratulated Mr Turnbull on behalf of the NSW Division.

“Malcolm’s deep commitment to our nation through a range of social and economic causes and his many achievements have greatly benefited Australia and our community.

“Driving an economic growth agenda through record job creation and tax reform helped build Australia’s economic success and has contributed to us overcoming many challenges since.”

“We owe a great deal of thanks to Malcolm, as both our Party and our nation are richer for his service and contribution.”

The Honourable John Jobling has been made a Member (AM) in the General Division, for his significant service to the community, to first aid organisations, and to local government. The former Mayor of Muswellbrook Municipality Shire Council had served as a Liberal Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council for almost two decades until his retirement in 2003.

Ms Yvonne Keane has also been made a Member (AM) in the General Division, for her significant service to women and children, and to those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Yvonne has served the Party in numerous roles, including as a former Hills Shire Mayor.

Mr Simon Moore received a Medal (OAM) in the General Division, for his service to the broadcast media, and to the community.

“We would like to offer the Party’s sincere congratulations to our Members and all other outstanding Australians whose services to our state and nation have been recognised in the Australia Day honours today,” said Mr Ruddock.
