Dear *|INFORMAL|*,
It is a great honour to write to you for the first time as State President of the Liberal Party of Australia, NSW Division, following my election in March. I am grateful for the confidence placed in me, and I have approached these initial weeks with a clear focus on restoring momentum, strengthening our organisation, and supporting our Parliamentary team.
Since my election, I have been working closely with our State Parliamentary Party and its outstanding Leader, Kellie Sloane MP, and our new State Director, Mark Neeham, to ensure that the organisational wing of the Party is ready for the coming campaign. I am continuing to meet with Members across the Division, and have been pleased by the constructive engagement and shared commitment to delivering a Liberal victory at the coming election. In addition, I have been supporting our campaign team’s efforts in the Farrer by-election campaign.
This week, the State Executive held its first formal meeting since our election. Following amendments to the Constitution in November last year, we now have a streamlined Executive that is professional, dynamic, and determined to serve the Party and achieve results.
The State Executive and I have made a number of important decisions since our election, including the endorsement of the Deputy Leader of the State Parliamentary Party, the Hon Natalie Ward MLC, as the Party’s candidate for the Legislative Council Northern Metropolitan Province; the re-appointment of Ro Knox as the Honorary Treasurer to allow her to continue her excellent work; and the closure of nominations in several important Legislative Assembly Electoral Districts. These are not merely procedural steps, they are the building blocks of electoral success.
It is worth observing that, at the equivalent point in the previous electoral cycle, the Party had not endorsed a single candidate for the 2023 state election, nor had nominations opened in any electorate. We are, today, in a markedly stronger position, and are building a strong field of candidates well ahead of time.
A central task ahead is to re-engage our membership following the prolonged period of federal intervention. Our Members are the foundation of the Party, and restoring confidence, communication, and participation across the Division is essential.
However, our success will ultimately depend on unity of effort. Every part of the organisation must be focused on supporting Kellie Sloane and the State Parliamentary Party as we work towards the NSW election – it is only a few hundred days away. That requires discipline, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the values and objectives that unite us. We cannot allow Labor another four years, to continue destroying our state’s economic standing and the Liberal legacy of great infrastructure and community investment.
Finally, with ANZAC Day approaching, we are reminded of the service, sacrifice, and duty of those Australians who have defended our institutions and way of life. It is a standard that endures.
I look forward to continuing to engage with you in the weeks and months ahead.
Kind regards,

The Hon Peter Collins AM KC
State President
